Septic emergency in Tampa Bay: who answers 24/7? (2026)

By Septic Service MapNovember 6, 20265 min read

78 of 126 Tampa Bay septic companies say they take emergency calls 24/7, but only 15 list Sunday hours on Google and just 4 of those pump tanks. Here's who.

The short answer

78 of the 126 Tampa Bay septic companies we checked (62%) say on their own website that they take emergency calls 24/7. That's a lot more than their posted hours suggest. Of the 66 companies that publish opening hours on Google, only 15 list any Sunday hours, and just 3 show 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

So if your septic tank backs up at 9 p.m. on a Saturday, the hours on a map listing aren't the whole story. A company that lists itself as "closed" on Sunday may still send a truck for an emergency. And one that's "open" may only answer the phone.

The website says 24/7, Google says closed

We compared two things for every company: what its own site says about emergency service, and the hours on its Google Business Profile.

The gap makes sense. Most septic contractors keep office hours for quotes, inspections and routine pumping, and run a separate emergency line. Google's hours field shows the office. The 24/7 promise lives on the website.

What this means for you: in an emergency, start with the companies whose own sites say 24/7, and call them even if a map listing says "closed." Ask on the phone whether there's an after-hours or weekend rate before the truck rolls, because our data can't tell you that.

Who's open on weekends

Weekend office hours are less common than the 24/7 promise:

CompaniesShare of the 66 with Google hours
Open Saturday2639%
Open Sunday1523%
Open 24 hours, every day35%

Only four companies on the Sunday list do septic pumping, going by the services on their own websites. All four list the same hours on Saturday:

The other 11 on the Sunday list are mostly plumbing companies whose sites list septic-related work but not pumping. That helps when the problem turns out to be a clogged line between the house and the tank, but they may not be able to pump the tank itself.

Where the 24/7 options are

How many 24/7 companies you have depends a lot on where you live. Here's every area with at least four listings in our directory:

Pinellas County stands out. In St. Petersburg 11 of 12 companies say 24/7, and in Clearwater all 7 do. Inland it's thinner: Brooksville and Brandon each have one company that says 24/7, and Plant City and Zephyrhills have two. Septic companies travel, so a company based one town over may well come to you. Ask when you call.

Same-day service and other promises

"Same-day service" isn't the same as 24/7, and it's worth knowing which one you're being offered. Here's what the 126 companies say on their own sites:

Two numbers stand out on trust. 82 companies (65%) say they're licensed or insured. Only 6 (5%) print a Florida septic contractor registration number on their site. A missing number on a website doesn't mean a company isn't registered, but you should ask for it before anyone digs. Our guide on choosing a septic company in Tampa Bay explains what to check.

Questions people ask

Can I get a septic tank pumped on a Sunday in Tampa Bay? Yes. 78 of 126 Tampa Bay septic companies say they take emergency calls 24/7, and 4 companies that pump tanks list regular Sunday hours on Google: Jerry Mills Discount Pumping (Hudson), Atomic Septic Tank (Lakeland), Quality Septic (Plant City) and Septic Blue of Tampa (Tampa).

Are Google hours reliable for septic emergencies? Not on their own. Of the 30 Tampa Bay septic companies that say 24/7 on their website and also post Google hours, only 2 list 24-hour hours on Google. Most list office hours and take emergencies on a separate line, so call even if the map says "closed."

Which Tampa Bay areas have the most 24/7 septic companies? St. Petersburg (11 of 12 companies), Clearwater (7 of 7), Tampa (8 of 12) and Lakeland (8 of 15), going by what the companies say on their own sites in November 2026. Brooksville and Brandon have one each.

How we counted

We took the 153 septic companies in the Septic Service Map directory, all verified on their own websites on November 6, 2026. We counted the 126 whose phone number has a Tampa Bay area code (813, 727, 656, 863, 941, 352) or is toll-free, and left out 27 with a number from another region while we recheck where they're based. "Says 24/7" means the company's own site says 24/7, 24-hour or around-the-clock emergency service. A plain "emergency service" didn't count. Opening hours come from each company's Google Business Profile, and services, same-day service and the other promises come from the company's own site. We didn't call anyone, and we didn't count prices because too few sites publish one.
