Missing a company? Add your business

A growing first collection, not a complete list. Hours, services, prices and insurance wording are published by each business and may change. How we source our listings ↗

The trust check

What’s worth knowing before you book a septic company.

Hiring someone to dig in your yard and work on your septic system means trusting them with your property. So every company gets the same plain check of what you can verify for yourself — not a rating, not an ad. Unknowns stay unknown.

  1. 01

    It’s a real business

Sourced from official websites and listings, with contact details. Lead-generation pages and call centers don’t count.

  2. 02

    Florida registration shown

The septic contractor registration number, when the company publishes it. Check it with the state’s onsite sewage program.

  3. 03

    Insured, as stated

The insurance statement the company publishes. Ask for the certificate of insurance; we don’t see the policy.

  4. 04

    Pumping price published

A pumping price, when the company publishes one. Ask what tank size and disposal fees it includes.

  5. 05

    24/7 emergency service

Whether the company’s own site says it answers septic emergencies around the clock, with a link to where it says so.

  6. 06

    Published prices

Prices, only when the company publishes them. Otherwise, get a written quote.

FIRST TIME HIRING A SEPTIC COMPANY?

Ask before you book,
not after the dig.

Check the state registration, get a certificate of insurance and get the quote in writing, disposal fees included. How to choose a septic company ↗

  1. What is your Florida septic contractor registration number?Ask for the number and check it with the state’s onsite sewage program before work starts.
  2. Can you send a certificate of insurance?Ask for the certificate, and read what it covers and for which dates.
  3. What does the price include?Ask the price for your tank size, with disposal fees, digging to the lid and any trip charge spelled out.
  4. Will I get a written report?Ask what they will check while the tank is open, and get what they found and recommend in writing.
ASK AROUND

Who pumped your tank?
Send them the company.

Good septic companies get found through neighbors. Share a company to the group chat with one tap — the link opens with stated services, sources and contact details. Saved a shortlist? Share that too and let a neighbor weigh in.

GOOD QUESTIONS

Hiring a septic company
you can trust.

Straight answers about registration, pumping, prices, inspections and how Septic Service Map works. How we source our listings ↗

How do I check a septic company’s Florida registration?
Ask the company for its septic contractor registration number, then check it with the state’s onsite sewage program (Florida Department of Environmental Protection) before work starts. We record the number only when the company publishes it. 7 septic companies in the directory publish one. This is general information, not legal advice.
How often should a septic tank be pumped?
The EPA says household septic tanks are typically pumped every three to five years. Tank size, household size and water use change that, so ask the company to measure the sludge when it pumps and to tell you when to come back. Write the date down. 38 septic companies in the directory mention maintenance plans.
How much does septic pumping cost?
It depends on the company, the tank size and the job, so we do not publish typical prices. Ask what the price includes for your tank size, whether disposal fees are included, and whether digging to the lid costs extra. 5 septic companies in the directory publish a pumping price; we show it as published, with the date we checked.
Do I need a septic inspection to buy or sell a home?
Requirements can come from your lender, your contract or local rules, so ask your agent, your lender and the state onsite sewage program what applies to your sale. Before you book, ask the company exactly what the inspection covers, and get a written report.
What are the signs of drain field trouble?
Slow drains throughout the house, gurgling pipes, sewage odors, soggy ground or standing water over the drain field, unusually green grass there, and backups. Some of these can come from a full tank or a blocked line, so ask the company how it found the cause before you pay for a new drain field, and consider a second quote for a large repair. 59 septic companies in the directory list drain field work.
Who can I call for a septic emergency?
Use the 24/7 filter to see companies whose own sites say they offer 24/7 emergency service, and ask about after-hours rates when you call. 89 septic companies in the directory say they do. If sewage is backing up, limit water use until help arrives.
What does Septic Service Map check?
Six things on every company profile: a real, sourced business; a Florida septic contractor registration number, if published; insurance as the company states it; a published pumping price; 24/7 emergency service as stated; and published prices. It is not a rating. A missing item means we could not confirm it from a public source, not that the company is bad. Septic Service Map lists 147 septic companies across 25 Tampa Bay areas and shows which of these details we could confirm for each one, with links to the sources and the date we checked them (latest check 2026-11-06).
Does Septic Service Map rate or rank septic companies?
No. We never give companies star ratings and we don’t copy ratings from other sites. By default, companies are sorted by how many trust-check details we could confirm. Some owner-verified companies are Featured through a free strategy call with Winback Engine, the company behind Septic Service Map; Featured companies are always labeled and can appear first, but Featured never changes a company’s trust check or sources.
What should I ask a septic company before I book?
What is your Florida septic contractor registration number? Ask for the number and check it with the state’s onsite sewage program before work starts. Can you send a certificate of insurance? Ask for the certificate, and read what it covers and for which dates. What does the price include? Ask the price for your tank size, with disposal fees, digging to the lid and any trip charge spelled out. Will I get a written report? Ask what they will check while the tank is open, and get what they found and recommend in writing.
Do I book or pay through this site?
No. Every profile links to the company’s own website or phone number, so you deal directly with the company. Septic Service Map does not take bookings, payments or referral fees from homeowners.
A company is missing or out of date. How do I fix it?
Owners can claim a free profile, and anyone can suggest a missing company or a correction from the “For businesses” page. Requests are reviewed against the company’s official sources before anything changes on a public profile.
